Sophistication in the Details
35 metres long, 11.50 metres wide, 3.50 metres high – this is the new hall at NTC Nano Tech Coatings, intended to expand storage capacity.
The new hall at NTC Nano Tech Coatings GmbH in Tholey is equipped with the latest technology. NTC Nano Tech Coatings GmbH in Tholey has expanded its storage capacity with the construction of a new hall. The building is 35 metres long, connecting directly to the existing complex. With its width of 11.5 metres and height of 3.5 metres the hall is rather inconspicuous and integrates seamlessly into the existing group of buildings.
But the real sophistication of the hall is in the details. Those responsible for the project set the highest standards for fire safety, explains Jennifer Forster-Weis. She supervised the construction work. For example the smoke and heat extraction system that has been installed is state of the art. The environmental protection requirements have also been implemented and the floor trough is fitted with a protective coating in accordance with the Water Resources Act system 2 and with systems for the draining of water-polluting and flammable materials.
Before Managing Director Georg Wagner was able, together with Jennifer Forster-Weis, to officially receive the certification of the quality management for NTC Nano Tech Coatings from the environmental expert and advisor Willi Bethäuser on the occasion of the official inauguration he explained the history of the company in a presentation and highlighted its assignments and priorities. NTC operates globally and specialises in the development and production of effective surface coatings for industry and construction. The Managing Director told us: “We are experts on the use of sol-gel based nanotechnology in modern production development”. Work by NTC is characterised by the highest levels of resistance and resilience in multi-functional high-tech coatings. Wagner also noted the global spread of the NCT surface treatment, naming the Eiffel Bridge in Girona, the Wolfcreek Tunnel in Colorado (USA) and cooling towers in Australia as just some of the exemplary structures with surfaces protected using nanotechnology from Tholey.
Authorised Signatory Jennifer Forster-Weis also provided more detailed information on the construction of the new hall and thanked the executing construction firms and architecture and planning offices. The new hall offers 477 square metres of space and cost around 600,000 Euros. Jennifer Forster-Weiss also explained that the new hall is expected to be used initially only for the storage of materials and for loading and unloading”.

Today, representatives of the Saarland Environmental Pact presented the executives of NTC with a certificate of participation at a ceremony held in the NTC head office. Managing Director Dr. Georg Wagner introduced his company and the NTC team and touched upon numerous other cornerstones of NTC’s comprehensive commitment to the environment. Attendees were impressed by the potential of modern nanotechnology, in particular in terms of its possibilities for conserving resources and thus saving energy.
In a brief speech, Dr. Wagner outlined the company’s current sphere of work, from supplying international car manufacturers to industry provision to research and development. He emphasised that there has never been any question of basing the company anywhere other than Saarland. NTC has made a global name for itself with its professionalism and its wealth of ideas. State Secretary Roland Krämer praised NTC’s commitment to sustainability, visible in environmental, economical and even social aspects, highlighting the increasing number of secure jobs available at NTC. Stefan Scheid offered a reminder that one benefit offered by membership of the Saarland Environmental Pact was the fact that the bodies involved were of course happy to provide participating companies with advice and assistance.
